Covello managed this $20 million multi project program. Phase I was a $2.3 million project that constructed a new Scalehouse, new truck scales, new precast bridge, new retaining walls, piling foundations, demolition, grading, utility improvements, signage, paving and other surface improvements and striping. The work was performed in an existing, operating Solid Waste Transfer and Material Recovery Facility, known as the Shoreway Environmental Center. Approximately 300 solid waste and recycling material transport vehicles use the site on a daily basis; the access to parking and the existing traffic patterns have been in place for numerous years and will be disrupted and revised to correct queuing, which extends traffic onto Shoreway Boulevard.
- This project was constructed on an active recycling facility and maintained faily operations almost round the clock
- This project applied for a LEED® certification
- This project serves as an educational facility as well as a recycling facility for the Peninsula
