This project won the 2010 WateReuse Award of Merit and the American Public Work Association (APWA) 2009 Project of The Year Award!!! The plant uses the latest wastewater treatment technologies due to the environmentally sensitive site. The new facility processes 7.0 mgd through secondary treatment and up to 5.2 mgd through tertiary treatment. The new facilities include an influent force main, headworks facility, oxidation ditches, secondary clarifiers, tertiary filters, UV disinfection facilities, recycled water facilities, sludge thickener facility, two phase digester, boiler building, digested sludge dewatering system, bio-filter odor control system, operations and maintenance building, polishing treatment wetlands and vegetated treatment wetlands, standby generator system, and other facilities necessary to provide a functional treatment facility.

- Portions of the wetland habitat and butterfly gardens to the public, which is one of the best bird watching areas in the West Coast: an elevated viewing mound and access points were constructed to provide better viewing of the wildlife along the creek corridor.
