Covello is managing two concurrent projects totaling $4.8 million for Castro Valley Sanitary District. The overall total length of sewer to be constructed is approximately 11,100 feet with sewer diameters ranging from 8-inch to 27-inch. All sewers will be constructed in open trench construction. The Master Plan Priority 2 (MPP2) Phase 1 project was a combination of three separate projects identified in the Master Plan including Lake Chabot Road West, Lake Chabot Road East and a Priority 1 Quail Avenue replacement project. The Streetscape trunk sewer segment is a relocation of two Master Plan projects [portion of Redwood Road Trunk Sewer Avenue (Priority 4) and the Anita Avenue and Somerset Avenue Maria Trunk Sewer projects (Priority 2)]. These projects were needed to provide capacity for historically surcharging areas and hydraulic capacity during 10-year peak wet weather events. The hydraulic capacity provided by the trunk sewer through the Streetscape project area is similar to and will replace the hydraulic capacity provided by the improvements identified in the Master Plan.
